St. Michael School

St. Michael School

Bio

St. Michael’s School serves more than 300 students in transitional kindergarten through eighth grade. Since 1903, St. Michael’s has provided a high-quality Catholic education with a low-cost tuition to families in South Los Angeles. We are affiliated with and maintain a close relationship with the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose. Our school is a safe and nurturing place for children to learn and grow. We strive to educate the whole child in order to meet students’ academic, spiritual, moral, physical, and social development needs, so they can make a positive difference in the world as adults.

This school year, St. Michael’s curriculum will consist of English Language Arts, Math, Science, Religion, Social Studies, Coding, Art, Physical Education & Health, and Music. We are a blended learning school that provides online educational programs to enhance and personalize students’ understanding of Math and English Language Arts. Students are offered many extracurricular activities to develop their interests and build valuable skills, including: sports, character-building programs, leadership groups, community service projects, and free tutoring programs at St. Michael’s and Loyola High School.

Our students matriculate to the following high schools: Cathedral, St. Pius/St. Matthias, Verbum Dei, St. Mary’s Academy, St. Bernard’s, Bishop Conaty, Junipero Serra, Loyola, and various charter schools. St. Michael’s alums who recently graduated from high school were accepted to these colleges: Notre Dame University, University of Arizona, UCLA, UC San Diego, San Diego State, Cal State Northridge, Cal State Long Beach, and others.

While our tuition has remained at virtually the same level for more than a decade, many of our families struggle to afford tuition. Thanks to generous alums, foundations, and community members, we are able to provide financial assistance to 98% of our families. We pray that through the continued generosity of donors, we will be able to continue providing aid to all families in need.
